HONOR THE DEAD OIL & INCENSE
Oil & incense offering is made with three years of harvested Marigold flowers from my garden, Mexican Copal, tobacco & other funerary plants & flowers.
As I clear the ofrenda each year once Dia De Muertos passes all flowers, candies, libations & gifts are returned to the earth. Throughout the rest of the year I find myself wishing for a bit of that sacred blend to re offer in order to conjure loved ones, have sacred conversations or honor the newly dead. While the ofrenda on Dia De Metros is special and the lighting of the way on those days is unique, I do have the awareness that we can always access our loved ones as the veil is always thin.
The difference between Honor The Dead & Ancestors is in the specificity of the plants & resins & the way each are prepared. Marigolds (which are in Honor The Dead) light the way & are the flowers the dead can smell. Life Everlasting (which are in Ancestors) remind us that death is not final. I would choose Honor The Dead while in grief, when seeking the specific warmth of the comfort of fall conversations with our loved ones past or to help light the way as a loved one is transitioning.
This set is held in a red velvet pouch. Both the oil & the incense are contained in 4 dram vials.
Conjure Tip-burn this loose incense on charcoal disks in a fire safe container. Never leave burning incense unattended. Ensure incense & coal are fully extinguished before walking away from your work.
